Interview with Sumiko Shindou

The third opening "Shoujo Q" will be released soon (23th of November, at the time of the interview). What kind of an image did you have in mind when creating it?

Shindou

At first glance it seems like a serious theme with the tone of "What's normal?" The content is pretty crazy though (laughs). The song has same phrases repeated over and over, making it a brainwashing song. It's easy to remember and it leaves a strong impact.

Trick to Understand Shoujo Q with Tatsuya Oishi

The Director just simply said to me “Make it like YMO”, and because I love YMO, I had no hardships. Up until now openings had a cute feeling to them, so by adding skeletons and cutting characters in half, I aimed for something more extreme. There are devices in the background image that’s during the sponsors’ screen after the song. The plug of Becky’s headphones isn’t, in fact, inserted to the amplifier. The punchline is that Becky wasn't unable to hear Mesousa's voice over her headphones, but she was actually just pretending not to hear her (laughs).

Editor's comment: Oishi-san regrets that “no one was able to understand” these devices. It’s interesting to see how this scene will turn out in DVDs, where there aren’t any sponsors’ screens.
