Interview with Sumiko Shindou

Next up is "Roulette Roulette", which as well is a very impactful and addictive song

Shindou

Since two previous songs had the characters in forefront, I made "Roulette Roulette" or the feeling of "I listened to every last bit of it!" Even though there are some parts that were made intentionally hard to hear, about 80% of it has already been deciphered online. I was in awe, but also surprised.

The conversations overlapping each other at the end of the first verse, the end of the second verse and the interlude are something you'd like to hear. The interlude wasn't decided until the very end. However, right before the recording, it was decided that "Since the roulette spins, and so spins the conveyor belt sushi, let's do it with sushi!"

Trick to Understand Roulette☆Roulette with Tatsuya Oishi

When the idea of the characters combining came to me, I thought "I might pull this off!" and the overall image started taking a shape. But before coming up with that idea, I really struggled a lot. From all three openings, this was the hardest to make. The Becky dance drawn by key animator Itou-san became really popular, and I believe the help from animators had a large part in making it happen. However, the times it was broadcasted on TV were very few, which I was secretly sad about (laughs).

Editor's comment: The number of people gradually increase, and they finally form a huge combination of seven humans and one animal. It’s fun to look at the still images, but it’s even more fun when they move along the song’s tempo!
