Interview with Sumiko Shindou

How did the first ending, "Girlppi" come to fruition?

Shindou: The motif for the ending song was the children's song Ai ai. The point was to make a lively song with catchy lyrics. In contrast to the mature-like "Kiiroi Bakansu", this is cute song that was made to be familiar for all the middle school and high school viewers. There were recordings made of this song even before the first postscoring, but most importantly it was "Anything goes, don't worry about it!" (laughs).

What did you think when you saw the song accompanied by video on TV?

Shindou: I was surprised. It was amazing, really amazing. I was surprised how the pictures and the song were linked, how the way the subtitles were inserted distinctly, and how vivid colours were used. I felt like "I've just seen the most cutting-edge opening video ever!" The ending pictures change every time. It also inspired our music team. They said, "The video is amazing! We can't lose to this!!"
