The Beho Festival. It was dedicated to Beho up to the end, where the special ending was a great treat. Wouldn't it have been better if she had remained the magical girl that’s the butt of all those jokes? |

1. Koichi-kun’s Cap![]() The baseball cap that Koichi-kun is wearing is merchandise of Nankai Hawks (currently Fukuoka Softbank Hawks). For a baseball team that ceased to exist in 1988... Koichi-kun, your tastes are quite old-fashioned. 2. Behoimi’s Transformation Scene![]() Today’s Behoimi has combined jokes. From a pretty guardian with a sailor suit, to a warrior of love who trained deep in Indian mountains, and finally a cardca*tor... In the midst of it, the magnificent design of Gundam-like Roboko carrying Ro**’s shield is seen flying. This episode marks Behoimi’s last time as a magical girl, so it's packed with content. 3. Stopping Time!![]() Just an instant before the narration about Behoimi enters, there’s a cut of the main antagonist of Jo*o’s Bizarre Adventure, Di*. It’s a play on the fact that he has the ability to stop time. Also, when Magical Digital Camera is introduced, there’s a cut of Jo**ro, who can similarly stop time. 4. Taeko Cutting Across![]() The pestilence god in training, Taeko from MaroMayu crossing through. This episode too has lots of strange creatures and characters on the screen. 5. Suzune’s Lovely Chop![]() Suzune’s single punch may be more powerful than Ve**s Love M* Chain technique from the sai**r guardian, who, similar to Suzune, has long hair and a red ribbon. 6. Red Roboko![]() After the Roboko March inside Behoimi’s head has ended, a red Roboko appears. Three times more efficient? Despite that, the timing is maybe a bit careless. 7. Aliens’ Catch![]() During a catch match with subordinates, Captain throws the final pitch. This is similar to Dai League Ball No. 2, nicknamed as “Disappearing Magic Ball”, from a baseball manga classic. 8. Pop-Up Makapon!![]() In front of judge seats, the barrel with a hole resembles a game that everyone must’ve played with as a child, Pop-Up **rate. And, inside this barrel, is Makapon from Hekiru Hikawa-sensei’s manga Momogumi!!. She was part of an idol unit together with Yuna Kashiwagi and Tsubasa, and made a brief appearance also in Episode 6. | 9. Small Articles of Lockers![]() There are many interesting objects inside Costume Department’s lockers. From top left, Ro**cop’s mask, Hy*** Shot for Famicom games, ***-Up Pirate’s barrel, Cha*’s mask from Gu*dam, Get*** 2 from Get*** Robo, Ru**k’s Snake, Head of Intelligence Club (a black cat) that appears in the original work Pani Poni, and W**sman’s Bear Claw from Kin****man. What an incredible treasure chest. 10. The Thing Behoimi is Mashing![]() It’s the Hy*** Shot found in one of the lockers. It’s an exclusive controller for the game Hyper Olym**cs. 11. Magical Cat Ears![]() From an anime for which Director Shinbo was the director a little while back, it’s the cat ears that the main heroine uses. 12. Magical Soda-Bottle Glasses![]() Speaking of heroes who transform with glasses, there’s an Ult** Warrior who uses Eye *lugger as a weapon. 13. Magical Digital Camera![]() This sounds like an amazing digital camera, as it can photograph anything. The letters of CONVOY have been implemented to its body. The Japanese Optimus **ime is similarly here as on the blackboards. 14. Behoimi, Arrested![]() The police car where Behoimi is taken to has the letters for “Nanamagari”. The classic detective drama Taiyō ni **ero! was a story about the detectives of Nanamagari Police Station. By the way, the Magical Stun Gun that caused Behoimi’s arrest has the letters of “MTB BEGIRAMA”. 15. Magical Giant Salamander![]() Behind Behoimi is a rabbit that looks like that person from a popular gourmet manga that has been in serialisation for over 20 years. Who the hell made this arai! | 16. Rei’s Magic Circle and Spell![]() At first glance, it looks like an amazing magic circle, but when you look closer, upper right corner has a pigeon, upper left Lord Cat, lower right Giant Salamander and lower left Mesousa, all of them allocated to those spots. Isn’t this assembly pretty groundless? However, the incantation “Aglon, Tetagram, Tetragrammaton” is a passage from the spell King Solomon used in the ritual for summoning the 72 sealed-away spirits, making the enchantment fundamental part of magic ceremonies. Rei really does love occultism. 17. ”Rice” on Head![]() Mesousa, whose appearance Ichijou has changed completely. On the forehead is letters for “rice”, shoulders have star marks, and there are blue wrestling pants, it’s quite the shape of the American-born superhuman that appears in the manga Kin****man. Do these things have anything to do with Mesousa being a sacrifice? As expected, Ichijou has still many mysteries surrounding her. 18. S*pe* Mario?![]() Ichijou going down the pipe, Himeko getting a 1up and such. Be sure to spot Taeko riding on the snake’s head. 19. Return of the Planet of the ****?![]() It has once more the flavour of Char*ton Heston from Episode 1. He also peeks from the hallway at the time Behoimi is reading a textbook. Also, the scene has animals run around in the classroom, and from this episode onwards, in classroom views to Class D, all the students have been turned into animals. 20. Introduction to Onmyōdō![]() It’s fascinating as to why a foreigner would be an onmyōji, but it’s also engrossing how the book’s original publisher is “Minmei Publishing Co.” Even in the ofuda on the book’s cover, there’s a lot of suspicious things written on them. 21. Japan’s No. 1 Hero?![]() A hero dressed like Kaiketsu **bat crosses through above each one of Class C. You might think you’re familiar with this anime, but you’re only the second best in Japan. 22. Good Bye to You Too, Mesousa![]() When you thought it was a goodbye for Behoimi as a magical girl, the last scene turned out to be a goodbye for Mesousa’s life. After being eaten, she is spit out as a cartoon-like piece of meat with a bone, which is then eaten by Lord Cat. That’s food chain to you (Completely different meaning) |
Development Study | Let’s Get a Permission to Film ![]() The scene where a fire truck and staff member are standing by is in the TV version too, but in the DVD version, staff members deeply apologizing to a police officer have been added in front of the fire truck. Perhaps, they didn’t get a permission to film the scene? And in fact, getting permission to film usage of fire seems pretty troublesome. |

Episode 8 Setup Collection | ![]() Behoimi (Nurse) Blue lines are the highlight. Nurse’s shoes have been stylized to look more like a magical girl. Behoimi (Goth loli) Orthodoxical goth loli, dressed in black head to toe. Full of frills, it’s adored by every girl. Suzune Shiratori (Nurse) This here is not an angel in all white, but rather an angel in pink. Due to her wearing it, she won Behoimi by a landslide. Tofu shop man Tough-tempered tofu shopkeeper, who has the character of an artisan. His setta sandals/a> give off the feeling of Edokko spirit. Koichi His cute name tag and curly eyes are adorable. Shorts are a basic item for children. |

34 yo – Production ”Punishment Pinball” from Episode 7 was something series director Oonuma-san put all his effort into, and I think the result was wonderful. Also, the textbook Becky uses in the episode had the cover illustration drawn by character designer Kazuhiko Oota-san. Please take a moment to look closely. Storyboard Episode 8... I only remember that it was very difficult task because I had to work while feeling unwell. I'm sorry for causing trouble to the production team. I believe that thanks to all the hard work everyone did at the studio, we were able to make the episode turn out very good. I appreciate it. I want to focus on getting back in shape for a while. Language from Super-Ancient Civilization Decoded... The ”…” that follows is a magic spell that most people in their 20s or older have surely memorized. With the games from this one manufacturer, there were many cases where using this code would unlock underhanded tricks. Sometimes, inputting it will make your ship self-destruct. Two Male Mountain Climbers, Who Took Hammers to a Snow-Capped Mountain~ These are the main characters of a classic game from the early days of Fa**com. It was an action game where by knocking down seals and polar bears, you’d continue to ascend up and up a mountain. Famous Taka***** Accomplished a 24-hit Combo and Successfully Cracked a Coconut The current department chief of **dson, who once was a charismatic figure among Famicom kids, acted in the movie GAMEKING, which depicted a showdown between rivals, and broke a watermelon into pieces in 16 consecutive shots (true story). With 24 hits he should be able to even crack a coconut. Happa Fumi Fumi These words are spoken by a celebrity in certain stationery manufacturer’s fountain pen commercial, which is probably Japan’s most famous commercial about an office supply. However, since it’s a popular phrase from the late 60s, it’s only used by old men. Only a Copper Sword? The equipment that was initially handed over the protagonist of a certain epic RPG sequel. The weapon is neither expensive nor cheap, yet it may be little sad for the king of a country to bestow this upon his prince, who is leaving for a journey... or is this just the prince’s feeling that unconsciously came out. Your Skill is Second in Japan Almost every episode has this same structure, with the Japan’s No. 1 Man’s staple line showing up precisely at the right moment. Him showing to plenty of his unique opponents (like bartender, fishing pro, carpenter etc.) that his skills are the best in all Japan, makes him undoubtedly cool. POW I Was Agitated So I Did It, But Now I Regret It Apology for writing ”POW” as ”PAW” in Episode 4. “I was agitated” is a phrase that came into the spotlight on the web at a time when violent crimes committed by junior and senior high school students going through their puberty were occurring frequently, and now it’s used in apologies. Valis An action game, which can be seen as a forerunner for galges, has a female high school student chosen as the hero out of nowhere, with the setting of her fighting in a swimsuit-like combat suit. It’s also a forerunner for games with a demo video, mysteriously full with fighting spirit. |
![]() Coordinator's Eye with Kyouko Kametani "I wanted to try a different hairstyle this time, so I did it like this." Perhaps it's the wavy hairstyle that makes her look so much more mature. |
Look Back to Episode 8 In relation to Pani Poni Education interview Shinbo I didn’t know about the Kinniku**n reference Oonuma-san had inserted (laughs). Mesousa’s shoelaces break in there, but that apparently has some meaning, right? -The meaning is that every time shoelaces break, you’d think “Has something happened to my buddy!?” (laughs). Shinbo Oonuma-san's reason to why in the verge of destruction, there appears button commands on the right corner of the screen is because they’re similar to what can be found from fighting games and Miyako moves by them. That was something we others didn’t get at all (laughs). |
