Idiom Explanation | Just as the tip of a thin needle comes back once making one full turn, if one does bad things, karma comes immediately to that person. So don’t do bad things. |

1. Bancho Alliance Appears!![]() The Fujiyama appearing in the opening title seems to be a perfect fit as a devil human, which looks to be combined with demon warrior Amo*. And then, Hirosuke, who’s a cow no matter how look at him, Ogin, and other interesting members appear one after another. Fujiyama is a man of few words, but one of his lines “What’s up”, is, of course, rock artist Ei-chan’s line. However, considering how Fujiyama’s clothes resemble a school costume, it may be a reference to anime adaptation’s next episode previews of a manga about the strongest school principal who introduces himself anytime and anywhere. You’ve been accepted to *****juku! 2. This Time Lord Cat is Plain![]() Lord Cat that has tightly packed himself inside a table. This time, instead of being contained inside a vending machine, he’s now in this kind of a place. Yet, he appears in one scene from the Alien Ship, so don’t miss it. 3. Operation: Appeasement![]() Rei suggested an operation of appeasement, which Himeko of course misheard as “operation of a-beast-ment”. 4. In the Midst of Bancho Alliance...![]() The silhouettes of a ghost who has three single hairs and can eat 10 donburi bowls, and a plank-shaped youkai can be confirmed to be here. Are dinosaur fossils and ant nests on the ground just trivial issues? 5. Shadow Play![]() Silhouettes and a border made of roses. Have you heard of the anime with an avant-garde-like choreography that has girls talking in a shadow play like this? 6. Temple Portrait![]() An image of a temple, which has been inserted to appear only for a moment, is from Katsushika’s Shibamata Taishakuten. The rice crackers, that Himeko and others are eating, are real-life photos of Tora-san senbei, which resemble the protagonist of Otoko wa Tsura* yo movies. Did staff members go buy them and then photograph them? | 7. Intelligence Club’s Clubroom![]() You wouldn’t think of it as a clubroom, since it’s full with abnormality. The consoles has even gauges which looks similar to ones in Space Runaway I**on. In one of displayed images, Suzune is holding a certain huge bulletin board character. 8. Ichijou’s Costume![]() She has a costume with a Ninja C*ptor look to it, so it’s an eye for en eye, and a ninja for a ninja? It’s relatively difficult to explain. 9. Ogin’s Remote Control![]() Looking it closer, doesn’t it look like an iPod Shuffle, which is vastly popular among fashionable kids? Even though she’s dressed up like that, it’s surprisingly cute how she carries trendy items around with her. Maybe the setting of her being an emotional 17-year-old is not a complete lie? 10. "The End" ?![]() Screen deteriorates into monotone and shows the letters for “The End”. It’s reminiscent of how old tokusatsu films were produced. It’s common for the screen to deteriorate in really old movies and war flicks. 11. Ending![]() This time the ending’s mechanism relies on timing, so chibi characters don’t appear here. Instead, there are shots with the same vibe as C*ti* Hone* and Majokko Me**-chan. Chiwa Saitō-san sings the ending song just like Becky. 12. Interior of the Cockpit![]() Guided by the Principal, and unbeknownst to the situation, Becky boards the giant mecha Pani Poni X. But the insides of that cockpit is even more in an incomprehensible state. A shigaraki-made tanuki statue, an old-school postbox, a rake, a Disk System, a poster of “guwashi”, and more. There are lots of things that are really unfitting for piloting. However, it looks like it can be operated with just handles and lethal move buttons, so that’s relieving. | 13. Interior of the Space Ship![]() A drunk Captain, a Subordinate playing jenga all by himself (is it fun to do it alone?), and a postbox stuffed full with newspapers. ...Guess that observing for so long got them bored. 14. ”Doesn’t this robot have weapons?”There are many of those who remember the scene where a boy rides a white demon for the first time and mutters to himself “Doesn’t this robot have weapons?” inside the cockpit. 15. Weapons of Pani Poni X![]() Pani Poni X’s lethal moves are taken from a various bunch of mecha anime. Pani Poni X is Iron Castle’s Ro**t Punch, Pani Poni Beam is Gaul**izer, from an mecha anime that got a remake recently, Pani Poni Missile is Bu*ter Missile, from robots that the main girl of her respective series pilots together with her big sister, and finally Pani Poni Tomahawk is obviously Get*er Tomahawk! Here’s little trivia: All of these lethal moves started operating once Becky pushed the “hee button”. 16. Can you guess which one I am?![]() Judging from her manner of speaking, it’s Yuuma, but answer you all have been curious about is... Since only Yuuma’s name is listed under the name of her voice actress in the staff roll, it’s Yuuma after all. 17. Mob Characters’ Poses![]() This time around, always quietly on their seats sitting regular students are strangely more assertive than usual. One strikes poses similar to martial art moves, one makes a peace sign for the camera shot, and one imitates U*traman. Have the self-consciousness of these mannequin-like figures finally awaken? |
Development Study | A More Authentic Disguise ![]() In the TV version, Otome only wore a wig, but now that she also wears a white coat, her disguise as Becky looks more realistic. There’s no doubt her resemblance has increased, but on the other hand, it seems like the risk of her getting targeted by Ogin has increased too. Blackboard During Supplementary Class ![]() Blackboard had nothing at all in the TV version, but now there’s additional writing. They’re written to suit the characters: Himeko thinks of freshwater crab, Suzune goes ZZZ, and Rei has symbol for yen. They surely do reflect what each character is thinking about, but it seems like no one is taking the supplementary class seriously... Combination GO? ![]() The TV version had “Delayed” written in the last shot, but it has been changed into “War Demon?”. Even though the latter kanji “國” (of 戦闘) isn’t commonly used, it sounds like a title for a super robot anime episode where the popular villain believed to get paid in a lump sum of cash. |

Episode 13 Setup Collection | ![]() Kurumi Momose (Battle suit) Battle suit that looks like a blend of Sci**** Special Search Party and Ul*ta Guard suits. Can’t believe it took her only one day to make. Akane Serizawa (Cow costume) The costume has a lot of breasts, but in reality, cows have only four breasts. Ogin The decoration on her head is from Zan**t 3? Her worn-out sailor uniform makes her look somewhat like a ninja. Fujiyama His silhouette is modeled after a certain giant robot. He even has the same card as Jo**ro stuck on his school cap. Hirosuke Under his school uniform there’s only a bare tie. If he was a human, he’d probably catch a cold. Pani Poni X Head is the one of Alien Captain’s, but its body is a mix of various mecha-like creations. So it’s naturally strong? |

While I was thinking “Aah, supplementary class is so bo~ring”, our school got attacked by a cow human, 10-meter-tall giant and a female ninja… but aren’t those just a costume and special makeup? Then that bunch of mutants told us to “bring out the little bancho”, which probably means Becky? Is it alright to have that genius deal with this matter? And why am I forced to wear a cow costume, and go seduce such a monstrous cow human? Looks like they think it’s better to have someone who’s good at acting deal with this matter, as expected... |

45 yo – Animation Director, Director, Storyboard etc. For Episode 13, the Director’s order was that of “I want to do it in different colours than before”, so I arranged a work myself did in the 80s into a style fitting for 2005. Since around the end of last year, I for some reason have had continuous opportunities of directing revival-styled shows. As an extension to them, I made the episode with the sole idea of trying to capture the atmosphere of that time period which consisted of naïve works full of vigour. Also, in Episode 2, at the point of storyboarding it, the storyboard for Episode 1 hadn’t been completed yet, we were in the state of figuring out what style would be good to use. I didn’t comprehend the blackboard jokes that Director told me about, so there wasn’t any blackboard jokes added in that episode. (I properly wrote blackboard jokes for Episode 2’s DVD version...) |

Height 57m Weight 55t Fly in the Sky Enormous Drill! Yo! It can be speculated that these are from the first entry of Naga****’s trilogy of super robot anime, which is popular for having 5 mechas com*ine into one. As for “Yo!”, is it because the robot uses a yoyo in one of its lethal moves? Thunder Ball Aston Martin Both of them can be thought to be from *07 spy movies. "Thunder Ball" is the title of the 4th movie, while Aston Martin is a British brand car manufacturer, which made the car that the protagonist of *07 series rides on, the Bond car. Do you remember how many slices of bread... In the first part of a certain crimson-coloured secret romantic horror legend, when the vampire is asked how many people he has killed, he replied with the cool line “Do you remember how many breads you have eaten in your life?” That’s the most fascinating and admirable part~!! Erupting God Finger Sekiha! Love! Love! Tenkyoken From a certain hot-blooded fighting mecha anime. It’s the ultimate lethal move that the protagonist shoots against the last boss in the final episode. When it’s not all lovey-dovey, his destructive power is in a different league. When used that transcendent power, the crest of Heart King on the back of his hands materialize. |

Look Back to Episode 13 In relation to Pani Poni Education interview Kanemaki The storyboard, animation and direction of this episode turned out to have the same good sense that Yuji Moriyama-san has when producing an anime. The design for Pani Poni X was also invented by Moriyama-san, and it has a fun feeling of a mecha-loving person playing around with various things. Hikawa It’s a design that no one would even try making into a garage kit (laughs). Shinbo Also, Sawashiro-san’s acting was undoubtedly great. Kanemaki Now that we’re halfway done, how far will we go, and where will we return? (laughs) |
