Idiom Explanation | Rose of Sharon (槿花) is a type of hibiscus flower. Or it can be read as Japanese morning glory. Since they’re flowers that bloom in the morning and wither in the evening, this phrase is used to describe how glory can be a short and a fleeting thing. TL's note: In Japanese, the idiom translates as “One Day Glory of a Rose of Sharon”. |

Anyhow, Igarashi-sensei glitters. Class A has been reconfirmed to be as superb as ever. Would. (laughs) |

1. I Don’t Mind Cowlicks Himeko (in her own words) met a boy whose name is Anthony. And right after this scene there’s a bullying girl, who appears under the name Eliza. It’s the world of Ca*dy Can*y.
2. During Class D’s Lecture Behoimi is holding the previous volume of a book that has been used on this site, which, of course, you’re reading. Also, Old Geezer’s armband reads “chin chin kamo kamo” that he’ll shout the following day, so this might be foreshadowing.
3. Tactics *gre? On the simulation role-playing game-like isometric screen, there’s actually a lot going on. First off inside the classroom, Kurumi vanishes as her Plain Points increase, and on the hallway, cavalrymen dash off and a Wan*er battles on. Let’s look to the smallest details.
4. TV Has Arrived! It seems to have a design of being a combination of a Labor that drove recklessly in Pat**bor and a robot, who had a TV as its head in FL*L. The business card, that the man reflected on the screen is giving out, doesn’t probably have an address or a phone number written on it.
5. Got An Event CG! Similar to game mechanics, this cut is displayed in a special pop-up window. This Becky’s secret wig has already appeared in that one infectious manga.
6. In the Faculty Room Works, such as Devil’s Dictionary and The Logic of Sophistry, lined up on the desk, are all based on already existing books. Since they’re books, it’s all well, but there, a Fa**com is placed, and a **ranha Plant is raised, so are these appropriate items for Faculty Room?
| 7. Ukiyo-e In the scene where Old Geezer fillets a fish, The Great Wave off Kanagawa from Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji has been inserted. Though, there are some sort of faces within the waves, and vines that grow up to places where one can collect coins as much as one likes, so it’s a bit different from the ordinary art.
8. Yankee and Lord Cat Clay works that Rei made in the original manga have been lined up on the roof. Lord Cat, with whom Yankee talks, carried things on top of his head, such as a rabbit and a hamburger meal, changing whenever screen rolls.
9. Fi**l Answer? Immediately after giving out 4 answer options in the style of a quiz game show where the aim is for one to become a millionaire (a wealthy person) by using life lines wisely, Ichijou has the so-called Mi** Pause. By the way, by answering here correctly, Mesousa can win only 2 lira.
10. Optimal Age for Marriage? Igarashi-sensei, who usually doesn’t care of her own appearance, makes up her whole body, and makes an excellent use of the blackboard to desperately appeal the TV audience. But since she’s normally the way she is, her students unexpectedly revealed her true self beneath her make-up.
11. TV Programs First off, like a certain comedian, a girl (resembling Ichijou’s Little Sister) with pro wrestler-looking make-up uses a sketchbook for expressing gags, and similar to the playful people of a comedy show, God (resembles Yankee) who passes judgement on confessing people. Alongside them are commercials included, with a lot of programs that look interesting to watch. TL note: Screenshot from the TV release. These two aforementioned jokes were completely removed from the DVD release. See Development Study below.
| 12. La*uta really existed! Side view of space ship that reminds of that one castle in the sky. Shooting lightnings, and there a robots like those ones flying around.
13. Guts, Sure-Hit, Soul, Flash While Captain is dodging an application for an interview, at some point a large swarm of enemies (?) have besieged Space Ship’s surroundings. Looking at this screen, I’m starting to feel like wanting every super robot from all times and places gather and fight with each other. For now, only Ide*n looks to be present here.
14. Trading Stone Statue Question about if there even are people gathering these is one thing, but it’d be interesting to know what kind of stone statues you have to collect to complete the series.
15. What’s the Ghost World? Suddenly, a bucket youkai swings in after dropping from ceiling. In front of it, Ichijou and Serizawa jump around and stick their heads together. This is reminiscent of the ending that the 3rd anime adaptation of Gegege no **tarō had in 1985. Since it wasn’t only the two of them dressed like that, but also being quite faithful to the original action, the number of older dudes who were impressed by this in front of the TV must be big.
16. At Last, Movie Version On the desk, there’s already a “Special Selected Five” poster pasted on. It’s finally been made into a feature-length film.
17. Upstairs Is a Youkai Mansion The youkai that came from the ceiling was actually dropped by Giant Salamander. Seeing this, the TV staff runs away, but in the midst of it, another staff member is trying to stop a fleeing Pani Poni Dash! staff member by shouting “Hey, You! You work here!”

Job Title Is Important Behind Rei’s name on the message windows the title “The Witch of the Orient” has been added. This is the nick name of Japan’s women’s volleyball team, who boasted themselves for being fiercely strong during Women’s Volleyball World Championships in Moscow and Tokyo Olympics. Other expressive titles include “Little Kid” for Becky.
Item Window In the scene about Becky equipping a secret wig, which seems to be bought from the height and stature store Yoshi**ya, now an item window popped up on the screen. It’s indicated to give “+80 Charm Points”, but it’s a great question if it really has such an effect.
Midnight Broadcast TV screens from the scene where Becky is zapping them through have been changed. A program called “Introduction to Dark Tai Chi*” is being broadcasted, but it must be showing how to take dance lessons as seen in the opening for a galge bursting with heartbreaking moments. Alongside this, I**on and Ray**rth -like programs seem to be broadcasted as well.
*TL note: The reason for this title is apparently that Famitsu called the opening video as such upon the initial release.
Whac-A-Mole (?) Giant Salamander is at smashing moles in the background... But instead of moles, there’s Mesousa and Hattifatterners from Moo**ns. Animal abusing animals? Maybe he can be forgiven since he’s an Endangered Species, after all.
Don’t Believe Everything You See Message windows are displayed here too... Huh? Compared to the displayed messages, are the things characters actually said, different? They’ve started advertising a diet machine, similar to one that would appear in midnight shopping TV. By the way, Ro*** Boy is a real existing product.

It’s the same reporter who’s appearing in the original manga and also in MaroMayu.

Look Back to Episode 22
In relation to The Way of Writing Pani Poni Dash! interview
Takayama Honestly, it took me very long time to start writing. I couldn’t see the overall flow of this episode one bit. At that time, the Director said he wanted to insert the joke “I guess it’s not going to work?” (ダメカナ?) “No, it’s not!” (ダメダヨ♪) joke from the original work. And in that instant I inserted the stage directions on Pany Pony’s Hill, it all came to me as in “I can see it!”, and I was able to write everything for episode (laughs).
Kanemaki I don’t really get what you did see there (laughs). As for me, I can’t forget the test performances Takahiro Sakurai-san did for the scene in C part where Anthony vomited blood. It really had a ghastly dreadful feel to it (laughs).
Takayama It’s actually a shame the scene ended up having a more cut down version.

Some TV program came to school to make a reportage. It’s a midnight program called “Assault! Homeroom Next Door!”, but at the moment those program people came into my class, for some reason they ended up leaving while crying. Has this school’s reputation been stained by my actions? Well, they’re coming to report tomorrow too, so I’m hoping to make up for today’s mistake... Speaking of which, as soon as Miyamoto-sensei heard about this reporting, she started looking gloomy throughout, but what really could be the reason for that?

Yoshiaki Itou (Animation Director – 38 yo)

This episode too was one of the many that bursted with Oonuma-san’s direction! I didn’t know how the screen would turn up to be until I watched the video, and I was surprised how much effort and detail they put to create a simulation RPG there. |
Direction Highlight |
Michio Fukuda (Storyboard)
Episode 22 is the story about how a TV reportage comes to Momotsuki Academy, so I thought regular Pani Poni crew members had to be tied to the setting, but in a way that didn’t disrupt the flow of the main story. What I mean is like that part where a girl from the Pani Poni crew sees the TV report crew, and before you know, she’s shrewdly blended in with the TV report crew. In fact, my very embarrassing and careless experience of mixing up the Pani Poni Dash! dubbing session by one day, and barging in at the dubbing studio during another work’s recording, was used as a basis on this scene (anxious). |
Chalkboard and Telop Explanation |
Space Runaway!! In the anime about escaping to space, with a legendary giant robot that exceeds 100 meters and space ship, each episode’s next episode preview ended with these words. The previews weren’t included in the rental video version, which is why chances of hearing it are surprisingly slim.
Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Oraa! Same as the line from the 3rd part of the great full-length romantic horror crimson tale. It’s probably as famous as the shout of repeatedly hitting strikes, “atatatatata”. Others include “boraborabora”, “ariariari”, “mudamudamuda” and such.
Kaoru Yu** is a cyborg In that one jidaigeki about a former vice-shōgun roaming through lands while carrying an inroalong, female ninja played by Kaoru Yu** continues appearing (2006), but no matter how many years pass, she shows no signs of aging. And that’s where the cyborg... rumour started being whispered around.
Hmph! You need more guts! A message inside the Cap***n Tsubasa series’ games, considered masterpieces among all character-based games. As the more powerful the shot, the more severe the guts consumption, two players, who can use Cyc**ne and Neo Ti**r Shot, often fall into this state.
Score a home run with a bunt A certain Fa**com game that lets its players experience a load of thrilling pro baseball, was released with this intentionally realistic slogan. Yet, a player, who has the power for an extra base hit, can hit a home run even with a simple bunt (and make the ball fly out of the park), which is a well-known fact.
Hey you, your back is blackened Very famous line from a mahjong player who wins by sobbing over and over again, no matter how you look at it. The manga where he appeared is already 20 years old of a work, but there isn’t a single person who hasn’t spit out this phrase, as its recognition is outstanding.
Carl-kun The self-propelled doll that appeared in Beat Ta**shi’s sports-themed variety show. The origin of its name comes from a famous athletic around that time, who also created a new standard for the record time of 100-meter sprint. Also, downgraded **carl-kun appears later.
Ta Wa Ba Reading these all together and in order, they surprisingly become the dying words of a mad sergeant from the time he was defeated by the Saviour of the Century’s End. Adding “hidebu”, “uboaah”, “gufuh” and such, these can be described as famous dying words.
A story about twelve girls from twelve different cities (十二都市十二少女物語) At the time a romance game, which gathered more hype before its release than after, was adapted into an anime, this catchphrase was used in its opening. While later works featuring 12 heroines would become a staple, this was one of the pioneers. TL note: Due to this scribble appearing only for a nanosecond on screen, it was not translated in ADV's release. The line was translated by gg/Oyasumi.

Coordinator's Eye with Kyouko Kametani
”The highlight is a woolen hat. I thought up something that would bring out some cuteness”. Somehow, she can be imagined as the Little Red Riding Hood with those clothes on.
Coordinator's Eye with Kyouko Kametani
”The highlight here is the oversized beret”. Her hair is tied into twintails from behind her left and right ears. Taking count on the colours, her garments give out a feeling of Winter.
